Cerebral palsy information sessions are educational CPD events offered for those working with children, young people or adults who have cerebral palsy. The session will give an overview of the different types of cerebral palsy and principles for treatment using the Bobath Concept.

Who can come?

Cerebral palsy information sessions are suitable for any health, therapy, education or social care professional (including Health and Social Care carers) who work with children, young people and/or adults who have cerebral palsy and who are interested in learning more about cerebral palsy and the Bobath Concept as a treatment approach.

What is involved?

Cerebral palsy information sessions are led by one of our therapists and include a mixture of lectures, video observations and opportunities for discussion. Attendees will be provided with a handout and certificate of attendance following the session.

By the end of a cerebral palsy information session, attendees will be more informed about:

  • The causes and clinical features of cerebral palsy
  • The main types of presentation and different classification systems used to describe what the person with cerebral palsy can do
  • The Bobath Concept – what it is, and what it is not
  • Some basic principles to be considered for the different types of cerebral palsy
