The Importance of Habilitation for Children & Young People

The Importance of Habilitation for Children & Young People
Cerebral Palsy Scotland Annual Conference 2026, Breakout speakers: Amy Gordon and Peter Lock, Habilitation Specialists, Guide Dogs UK
Over the last two decades, understanding of Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) has increased, alongside evidence that many individuals with Cerebral Palsy may have a diagnosis of CVI consequently.
In this session, we will explore the impact of CVI, how Habilitation Specialists can support children, young people, and their families to better understand CVI, and the practical support they can provide to increase independence. We will also explore how Habilitation can complement other professionals programmes, such as Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, working in collaboration to support greater positive outcomes.
