Vivian Maeda, MBA, is a Relationship Manager at Business in the Community (BITC), the UK’s largest responsible business network, representing 20% of the UK’s workforce.
Vivian has been invested in the inclusion agenda for more then two decades. She was the Equality & Diversity Divisional Lead at NHS Scotland National Services Scotland for seven years and swiftly moved to the charity Business in the Community, where she was the Programme Manager for various national projects. She is currently looking after a number of BITC members and supporting them in their responsible business journey for a more inclusive, fairer, greener and sustainable society.
Her son Luca has been diagnosed with mild cerebral palsy and thanks to Cerebral Palsy Scotland he has managed to reach a few milestones, such as kicking a ball. He is now able to run without tripping as often as he used to and managed to run the last lap of the Scottish Half Marathon with his mum and win his first medal.
Vivan and her son’s campaign for a more inclusive society where individuals are cherished by their abilities has attracted some attention by their local MSP who put a motion in the Scottish Parliament. In addition, Luca has been awarded ‘Little Champion of the Year 2023’ by Dunfermline Press for showing bravery and bursting our hearts with pride. Their campaign “Let’s focus on our abilities” continues.
