We held our seventh annual Cerebral Palsy Conference on 1 October 2020. This was our first online conference, and you can watch recordings from the day below. The conference is Scotland’s only annual event focussing on cerebral palsy. It’s for all those with experience of CP – either directly, through family or professionally.

09.50-10.35: Lockdown and beyond: experiences of the cerebral palsy community

Contributor: Tressa Burke, CEO, Glasgow Disability Alliance

Stephanie will present findings from two surveys that Cerebral Palsy Scotland conducted with the cerebral palsy community, one during lockdown and one post-lockdown. The discussion will focus on how these findings could and should be used to better support people with CP and their families now and in the future.

Parents of children with cerebral palsy will discuss their experiences of education and share their top tips and advice on how to navigate this world.

11.50-12.05: How iPads can be used to support individuals with communication difficulties

Presenter: Gillian McNeill, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, CALL Scotland

How iPads can be used to support individuals with communication difficulties, with guidance on different communication app features and approaches to app selection. It is aimed at anyone with an interest or involvement in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and how this can support communication needs, i.e. individuals, parents/families, carers and professionals.

Overview: This presentation will focus on the many lessons learnt on the journey of video consultations thus far; based on the available evidence in published literature, guidance from professional organisations, personal experience and valuable information gained from colleagues worldwide.
