Helping Hands

The flexible Helping Hands programme allows adults (aged 18 and over) living in Scotland who have cerebral palsy to access specialist therapy sessions at a subsidised rate.

We are able to offer this scheme thanks to our own fundraising and Cerebral Palsy Scotland’s generous donors.

Our approach to therapy

Providing therapy using the Bobath concept is at the heart of what we do at Cerebral Palsy Scotland. Find out more about our approach to therapy.

How Helping Hands works

Helping Hands allows adults to access therapy sessions with a specialist therapist at a discounted rate of £95 per session. (Compared to the full session cost of £175).

It is possible to fund therapy at Cerebral Palsy Scotland through Self-Directed Support.

How many sessions do I need?

Anyone interested in Helping Hands will be invited for an initial virtual assessment with our therapy team.

This assessment is free of charge and gives you a chance to discuss your condition, any current concerns or goals you have, and to find out whether therapy might be helpful for you.

Following this, you and your therapist will agree on the number of sessions required. For example, that might be one a month for a year or a shorter group of three or four sessions.

The amount of sessions can be reassessed and increased if needed.

Where and when will my sessions take place?

Sessions typically take place at our centre in Glasgow, but could also be in other settings. For example this could include a home visit, attending a wheelchair assessment appointment, or going to your local gym.

These visits can be very helpful to ensure any recommendations made are appropriate within different contexts.  Please note, any visits that take place outside our centre are booked as double sessions to include staff travel time.

Helping Hands runs within the financial year, which means sessions must be used between 1 April – 31 March of any given year.

How can I book my therapy sessions?

If you are interested in applying for Helping Hands or would like further information, please complete our therapy enquiry form.

If you would like more information, please call 0141 352 5000 0r email info@cpscot.org.uk.

Please also take note of our cancellation policy.
